"I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become." ~Carl Jung
We opened up Charley’s Demons with one clear and heartfelt goal in mind: to take our individual and shared experiences and extend them to others, helping them navigate through their own unique journeys. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. We embrace and support people of all races, genders, sexualities, and religions, ensuring that our community is inclusive and diverse. We firmly believe that everyone has the inherent right to be and feel human, to express their true selves without fear of judgment or discrimination. By fostering a sense of belonging and understanding, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of those who seek our guidance and support.
What Makes Us Different
Why Mental Health Matters To Us
Charley Jeanne
Hallo! I’m Charley Jeanne, and like the name suggests, I’ve had my share of demons. I’ve been dealing with addiction for over 30 years. I’ve experienced various dependencies and have loved people who struggled with them too. My life is a tapestry of struggle and resilience.
Grief is no stranger to me; I’d say we have an intimate relationship. Addiction has taken some of the closest people in my life. This profound loss has shaped my understanding of life, leaving indelible marks and teaching me deep lessons.
Pain is more manageable when shared. We aren’t meant to face hardships alone. By sharing our experiences, we help others live without shame, fostering a community of empathy and understanding.
As an Enneagram 4, I tend to embrace my feelings. Though not very social, I love an invite to a good cry party. You can count on me bringing the paint markers and kandi beads. Embracing emotions has been key to my healing.
I’m a mom to some amazing young men, inspiring me to make the world more accepting for all men to express their emotions and live as fully human. I want my daughter and her daughter to be accepted by men, free from their emotions being shamed out of them.
I envision a future where gender norms don’t dictate emotional expression, driving my passion for change. I believe in a merciful, kind, and empathetic world. I believe that this can only happen through those brave enough to lead through vulnerability.
If you’re reading this, you’re brave enough to create change. Reach out and say hello! Let’s connect, share stories, and support each other in this journey called life. Together, we can build a world where empathy and understanding thrive.
Garrick
Hi there! I’m Garrick, a proud bonus dad to six amazing kids, “G” to the best grandaughter ever, and husband to my hero, Charley Jeanne. I’ve been on a transformative journey of recovery from sex and pornography addiction since December 2022, and it’s been quite the adventure. At first, I thought it was just about breaking a habit, but it turned out to be a deep dive into my past and my mind, uncovering layers of my psyche I never knew existed. With the unwavering support and love from my incredible wife, who helped me see through the fears and insecurities, I’ve come to understand that I’m not defined by my past mistakes or behaviors. Instead, I am who I choose to be in each moment.
This journey has transformed me from a scared little boy who avoided conflict and hid from his emotions into a man who embraces his true self with courage and authenticity. I’ve found healing through learning about psychology, understanding the roots of my behaviors, and listening to others share their stories with openness and compassion. These shared experiences have been invaluable, showing me that vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness.
I want to offer others the chance to see that we all have something to learn by questioning our reality and challenging our preconceived notions. Recovery is a gift we can give ourselves, a path to self-discovery and self-improvement. Through genuine connections and heartfelt conversations, we can start to mend the fabric of our society, fostering a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. By sharing our journeys and supporting one another, we can create a world where healing and growth are possible for everyone.
